Thomas's obituary

Thomas Michael Morris aka ‘The Pin’ beloved father, grandfather, husband, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2023.

Born on August 21, 1950, in Ballston Spa, NY to Henry R. Morris and Mary Rita (Connell) Morris. He grew up in Saratoga Springs and attended Saratoga Springs High School where he forged lifelong friendships. His many accomplishments was playing with the Saratoga Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corp, and later went on to play drums in a band with his brother Dan and high school friends. He continued to enjoy music throughout his life from playing the drums on the car dashboard to blasting out the tunes at a party. Always fun loving with a great sense of humor.

Tom worked hard his entire life, from working at Saratoga Springs Golf Course and Power House, building houses with his brothers and friends, Boiler Technician at the Department of Health and later at Ashton Fuels, Technician at the Ball Corporation, and 27 years at Skidmore College as a Maintenance Mechanic and Boiler Technician.

Tom adored his family. Jessica, Ian, and his grandchildren Austin and Lelah were the loves of his life. His favorite times were those spent having fun and laughing with them. He also enjoyed music, fishing, and playing the horses. He really enjoyed the outdoors especially sunbathing and the many excursions he had with family at the ocean.

He was one to enjoy good food and dessert, often making everyone laugh when he would say “did you say dessert!”. Tom was so proud of his daughter Jessica who he found to be an inspiration and was very lucky to be able to spend weekly dinners together with her and her family. He was also very proud of his son Ian whom he loved to follow through his career as a Principal Dancer at Montgomery Ballet and San Antonio Ballet.

Survivors include his spouse, Jeanne D. Morris, daughter Jessica Eddy (Matthew Eddy), son Ian Morris, grandchildren Austin and Lelah Eddy, his sisters Theresa Toleman, of Saratoga Springs and Patricia Sequin (Joseph Sequin) of Corinth and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Henry R. Morris and Mary Rita Connell-Morris, four brothers Richard Morris, William Morris, James Morris, and Daniel Morris, and one sister Kathleen McDonough.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, 231 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs on Friday September 15, 2023 at 11:00 a.m.

Friends may call Thursday September 14, 2023 from 6 to 8 p.m. at William J. Burke and Sons Funeral Home, 628 North Broadway, Saratoga.

Tom’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
