Thomas's obituary

Thomas Fitzgerald McCarthy of Bonita Springs, Florida, died on January 31, 2023. Tom was born on May 5, 1939, in White Plains, New York, to Robert Emmet and Muriel Mary (Smith) McCarthy. Tom grew up in Williamstown, Massachusetts. He graduated from the University of Massachusetts and married Marcia Lee Cramer on June 24, 1961. They lived in North Adams, Massachusetts, and Tom started a tree and landscaping business with his brother, Robert McCarthy, Jr. Tom next started a construction business and had contracts throughout Massachusetts. Tom later went to work for J H Maxymillian Construction Company where he worked for approximately 40 years. Tom retired from the company as a Senior Vice President in 2021.

He and his wife, Marcia, had four children between 1962 and 1969. Tom was hardworking and loved his work. He had many hobbies and interests including golfing, tennis, automobiles and dogs. All of his life he took great pleasure in the landscape and he planted many trees, shrubs and flowers wherever he lived.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife, Marcia; his brother Robert (Bob) McCarthy Jr.; his sisters Beverly McCarthy and Doreen McCarthy; his sister-in-law Patricia (Cramer) Conroy; his daughter Melissa McCarthy; his sons Thomas McCarthy Jr., Matthew McCarthy, and Timothy McCarthy; his grandsons Jeremy Kato, Ryan Kato, Thomas McCarthy III; and his granddaugthers Erika McCarthy, Meghan McCarthy, and Elizabeth McCarthy.
