Yesterday was also my mom's birthday -- she passed away unexpectedly in March 2023 -- so I am certainly thinking of your family. I do my best to think of the good times with my mother and hope you all are able to do the same as Tom was truly an awesome guy. Take care!

This time last year I was racing to connect with Tom before he passed away. Being in CT I got to text with him, thanking him for his influence on my life. For me, besides being cousins in the Balling family,  it was jazz. Late in the 1980’s when I was in high school and just starting to get into jazz, we began a conversation about music at Christmas in Spencerport, that continued all the way until the week before he passed away. Didn’t matter if it had been a few years; we would pick up where we left off, talking about who and what we were listening to, what concerts we’ve been to, some good gigs I may have had, and so on. I finally asked him what tunes he had been playing with his jazz band, and one of them became a soundtrack for the period of time last year when he gracefully and bravely passed over:  Gentle Rain. He was literally a gentle man, and I will always remember the sound of his voice.

Ellen, Rebecca and Emily my heart goes out to you. Please know I think of Tom more than you know. Love to all of you!

I just heard this news yesterday. I met Tom when I went to UB. Tom introduced me Jazz and took me to my first Jazz Concert which was Dizzy Gillespie. One of nices people I ever met. So pure of heart. May he rest in peace.

Ellen and family, I was stunned and saddened when I heard of Tom's illness.
He was a great lawyer, a terrific partner, accomplished at many other activities and a good friend. Please accept my sincere condolences on his passing.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Ellen and girls. Tom loved and talked about his family constantly. He is already very missed at the firm and by so many of his clients. Our love to you all in the face of this unexpected and devastating loss.
I am so vary sorry to hear about Tom. He was a great friend at work and Tom always had a smile on his face. Tom was full of stories, was fun to talk to and was a tremendous help to me throughout his time at Lippes. He will definitely be missed.
