Thomas's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thomas Hicks, who left us on March 12, 2025 at 4:20 am. Thomas was a man of unique character, gruff in demeanor, cynical in thought, and quick to share stories and opinions.
Those who wet their palate with the smoky richness of a glass of Laphroaig or a well aged Talisker will miss his company around the campfire.
Thomas leaves behind his loving daughter, Sophia Hicks, her mother, Ruth Bridges, and friends dear to his heart for most of his life. They are filled with memories of a man who read voraciously in fantasy, sci fi and fiction (He was re-reading Terry Pratchett's Discworld series - again! - ) and Sophia read to him while we stood vigil. He loved so much music! Tom Waits, Bebop Deluxe and the Pogues... He followed his Seattle teams, Mariners and Seahawks with a passion.
Tom touched many lives in various circles, from his friends at Dickens Fair and Renaissance Faire to the Midnight to Six crew at OCF. Certainly not to be forgotten were his semi-annual male bonding rituals, where camaraderie and friendship stood in the spotlight. I wish I knew you all so I could address you individually, but alas, I haven't the proper equipment to be invited. He was preparing to join you when he fell ill.
Thomas will be profoundly missed, his absence felt deeply in the hearts of those who knew him well. His voice may be silenced, but memories of his gruff laughter, raucous debates, and appreciation of a fine single malt will remain in our hearts and minds forever.
Not everyone is on social media, so I invite everyone in to share stories, memories, good puns and favorite photos here.

Shared joy is increased.
Thus we refute entropy.”
