Thomas Phillip Gorman was born in Denver, Colorado to Elizabeth Weeks and Paul Gorman on April 11, 1948. He enlisted in the Navy to serve his country in 1970. After his discharge in 1973, he moved to Garland, Texas with his family. While in college he met the love of his life, Sherry McRight. They were soon married in 1975. They had two children and now have three grandchildren.

He enjoyed fishing and camping, martial arts, and was a Civil War re-enactor. He never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone about anything.

He is survived by his spouse Sherry McRight Gorman, his daughters Kristen Gorman Tamez and Terra Gorman Pierce, son in law Charlie Tamez, and grandchildren Andy "AJ" Pierce, Sophia Tamez, and Santino "Sonny" Tamez. He is also survived by his sisters Claudia Gorman Paxton and Cynthia Gorman Stewart, her husband Robert, and his brother Paul "Kit" Gorman, his wife Nita, as well as many nieces and nephews.
