Thomas's obituary
Thomas D’Anthony Dyson passed at age 20, on Dec 20, 2022, in Atlanta Georgia. He was surrounded by loving family.
Born on April 30, 2002, he was raised in Southern Maryland during his early formative years. Thomas was an autodidact in many wildlife topics. From an early age he was fascinated with predatory and aquatic animals; his favorites being lions, wolves, and sharks. He caught turtles and snakes in the woods and kept them as pets. He maintained a turtle and exotic fish collection into his young adulthood. Thomas was a very active youth and enjoyed playing outdoors all day, sleep overs with cousins, playing video games, and football with his community league “The Hawks”. He treasured growing up among a large host of siblings and cousins on both sides of his family; and the special dynamics and bonds he developed with them.
Thomas later moved to D.C. with his father during his teenage years. He enjoyed hanging out with friends, playing Basketball, and Boxing. He had a passion for music. He started writing rap lyrics around age 8, and by his late teens, he recorded several of his songs in studio, and several music videos; some in collaboration with other artists. Thomas wrote a collection of over 600 lyrical compositions. Although an excellent reader, Thomas most enjoyed oratory learning. He had a very inquisitive mind and would ask probing questions about life, history, humanity, science, and even finance. He said he wanted to be an entrepreneur and “get rich”. Thomas also worked part time in duct cleaning and as an electrical assistant. He took pride in his work and thoroughly enjoyed earning his own money. Despite ongoing obstacles, he completed his high school credits online with Kingsman Academy Public Charter School of DC. Additionally, he passed the entry exam to become an Electrical Apprentice with DC Department of Employment Services. He was excited about embarking on this new career opportunity.
Thomas was a pleasant, well-mannered person, and a joy and privilege to be around and know. He always expressed thanks for anything given him. In his relationships, he was not “lukewarm”, you always knew where he stood. He loved hard and unconditionally. He was loyal to family and true friends, no matter a person’s defects. He was a precious and beautiful person, and will be dearly missed by all. Thomas expressed faith in his God, Allah throughout his life down to the end.
Thomas is survived by his father Tyrone Anthony Dyson, mother Tina Lynette Gray, Paternal siblings: Tyonna Dyson, Waseemah Dyson, Wafeesah Dyson; Maternal siblings: Shawn Williams, Justina Gray, Timothy Goldring, Shadaz Williams, Frashard Knott; grandparents, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.
