Terry and I loved Tom - at first because Gina and Jeremy loved him, but after we got to know him, it was for himself. I loved Tom's sense of humor and his love of family. He had such a great laugh. And he made everyone else laugh, too. He was a rock for Gina when Jeremy left us, even as he was suffering. The world is a sadder place without him. Love you Gina Mer - he and Jeremy will always be with you in spirit.

I learned so much from Tom over the years at Princess and Carnival Corp. He always addressed issues and challenges with a level head, thinking and thinking again before reacting. Watching him, talking with him, and learning from him made me a better employee and more importantly, a better person. Professional, kind-hearted, with a great sense of humor and willing to help and share guidance whenever necessary. I will miss Tom and his wisdom and friendship. My sincere condolences to Gina Marie, his entire family and all of his friends, of which he has countless........ Rest in sweet peace and smooth sailing my friend.

It was my honor to know Tom as both a personal training client and a friend. Jolly, intelligent, and genuinely hilarious, he brought laughter, warmth, and great stories to every session. The love he had for his wife, Gina Marie, was beautiful to witness — steady and deep. He adored his dog Barney and spoke often, and fondly, of his nieces and nephews. Tom had a heart as big as his humor, and he will be deeply missed.
Sending my heartfelt love and condolences to Gina Marie and the entire family.

Tom was smart, professional, and fun. We were coincidentally small college contemporaries in Colorado in the late 1960's, though at rival schools, and both had Alaska experience, so we saw the world basically the same. His savvy, outgoing personality and background in Alaska politics served him well and whether in Juneau or Washington DC he was completely at home, a natural and expert government affairs man.
For several years we together hosted more cruise ship visits and other meetings for senior U.S., Alaskan, and Canadian officials than I can remember. Tom was a master at these, and everywhere he insisted on the same rules:
1. Plan ahead -- well ahead -- for the logistics, timing, and also the backgrounds of the day's VIPs. 2. Leave nothing to chance -- arrive hours early, meet the Captain and Chief, walk the ship tour route with them in advance -- show the garbage room!. 3. Have a briefing ready -- weeks of preparation, and (in an electronic world) bring paper copies -- for the visitors to make notes on and carry away. 4. Don't speak up or down to the audience -- regardless of rank or status, speak honestly to them all the same. 5. Feed them! Plan a good lunch -- you are on a cruise ship!
The results: good visits, mutual respect and trust, lasting relationships, and often favorable agreements (for both parties).
That was "old school", and nobody was better at it than Tom!

Tom was a wonderful business colleague and good friend, the greatest pleasure to work with and fun to be around, and I learned of his passing with the greatest sadness and sense of loss. An untimely loss, in his case, as I believe such a fine spirit, mind and character as Tom should have many miles left to run, with more people to meet, and lives to touch. He is remembered fondly also by his remaining Princess and Carnival colleagues, and will be missed by all.
Gina Marie has our deepest sympathies, and we wish you only the best in the days ahead.

We always felt welcome and comfortable around Tom and Gina Marie. We always felt joy when he was around, and his clever and humorous responses to anything shared kept us all going. Both Adrian and Briana are saddened to hear of this loss as they also felt the acceptance and love from him, every time we got together. Cheers to a live well lived! Mucho love, Elena & Brian

I was a very close friend of Tom’s brother Jack. Met in Greeley, CO as teenagers and knew all the Dow’s. Sad that all the brothers are dead. Truly a void.

I'm so sorry for your loss! He was such a vigorous man and I loved his sense of humor! I am Patrick Dow's wife, a cousin of Tom, who passed away 4 years ago! We would visit with Tom and his wife every time we were in Arizona! I will miss him!
