Personal note from Tom's family

ATTIRE - Plan on 'Smart Casual' if that can work. Don't worry if you have to google "Smart Casual" as many of Tom's children had to do so as well.

ANOTHER UPDATE - CELEBRATION OF LIFE UPDATE
We wanted to let y'all know on the game plan for the Celebration of Life service. It'll be held at Jax Cafe in (1928 University Ave NE, Mpls) which has plenty of parking just across the street.

The Celebration will start at 4 PM and last until 8 PM.

Appetizers will be served until about 5:00 or so, and there will be seats available at that time as well. At about 5:30/45, the family will say a few words and then will open it up to anybody that wants to tell a story about Tom, be it something that impacted you or just was plain entertaining. 5:30, coincidentally, or not so coincidentally, is when the Badger game is due to conclude.

Side Note: We are working on having a screen with the Badger game on. If Tom found out we were doing this during a Badger game and did not have the game on, well, it would not be pretty.

ALSO - Please RSVP if you plan to attend

Hotel Update -
A number of people are staying at the the Fairfield Inn & Suites Minneapolis Bloomington/Mall of America, with good proximity to the airport and about 20 minutes from Jax cafe. The discounted rate is not longer available.

Other options include staying in the :

....... North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis, which is less than 10 minutes by car from Jax cafe. There are a lot of restaurants, coffee shops and more, including Target Field, in the neighborhood. The Renaissance - Union Depot is on the edge of the the neighborhood, as one option. There is a Town Place Suites that has parking included, and a higher end option is the Hewing Hotel, but may have limited availability.

......West End in St Louis park, which is about 15 minutes from Jax cafe by car. The West End is an outdoor mall with many restaurants, shops, coffee shops, etc. The AC Hotel by Marriott Minneapolis West End and Homewood Suites Mpls/St Louis Park are options.

Hello all,

After a long battle with dementia, Tom is now in a better place.

We'll be using this space to share a long-form version of the obituary, information on the Celebration of Life including being able to RSVP, recommendations on hotels for those planning to attend Celebration, and more information.

A short-form obituary will be published per the below, both in print and the indicated date as well as on the online versions of the newspapers.
