Thomas's obituary
Postal Clerk Petty Officer 1st Class Thomas Russeum Christopher Jr, U.S. Navy, Retired passed away in Joplin Missouri on May 21, 2024 at the age of 74. He grew up in Greensboro Georgia and Charleston South Carolina among a loving family that included his mom and dad and 4 sisters. He earned his high school diploma through North Charleston High. He began his service to our Country on October 16, 1969. His time in the Navy he did a tour at Sea to Vietnam on the USS CORAL SEA CV43. He earned the following commendations; National Defense Service Medal (Bronze Star), Sea Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (numerous), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Morocco), Navy Unit Commendation.
He retired from the military in August 1990 while assigned to Navel Station Norfolk; after his military service, he worked as a carpenter and truck driver. He dedicated his personal time with his darling wife Terri Christopher of 30 years. Loved to fish and attend grandkids sporting events. His passion was with the Disabled American Veterans DAV and Veterans of Foreign Wars. During his time, he held many different positions of Office.
He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas Christopher Sr and Mame Helan Christopher. Daughter Krystal Merrie Christopher. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Terri Christopher; children Judy Callahan (husband Donny), Kristopher Dillon, Joseph Dillon, James Dillon, and Nate Dillon; grandchildren Samantha Hill, Jasmine Kerce, Logan Thomas, Mason Dillon, Ava Dillon, Jackson Dillon, and Bobby Ryan; numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Celebration of Life will be Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars VFW in Webb City Missouri from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. 900 N Main St. Webb City Mo 64870.
An additional Celebration of Life will be held in Summerville South Carolina later this summer. Dates will be posted soon.
Thomas Christopher will be cremated and buried at Sea through the United States Navy Burial At Sea Program with full Military Honors.
