Thomas's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved father, grandfather, son, and brother, Thomas Joseph Banet, Jr., who left us on October 31, 2025. Born on October 7, 1950, Tom, lived a life embracing adventure, passion, and travel.
Tom is survived by his son, Greg Banet, who fondly carries the Banet name forward. He will be remembered by his sister, Rebecca Banet, and his brother, Gerry Banet, both of whom share countless cherished memories of their times together. His mother, Elizabeth Anne Banet, has lost a wonderful son. His legacy will also live on through his grandson, Daniel Banet, and granddaughter, Claire Banet, who he adored beyond measure.
Tom was active in his community as an Eagle Scout while he was growing up. A well-seasoned traveler, Tom had a penchant for the great outdoors, often losing himself in the rhythm of nature while camping or hiking. A keen photographer, he found joy in immortalizing his journey. His adventurous spirit knew no bounds, but his love for family always brought him home.
Tom had a profound love for music, finding solace in the harmonies of blues, rock, and jazz. He encouraged Greg's passion for guitar playing and gave his grandchildren several guitars as Christmas and birthday presents, creating a lasting family bond.
He was a voracious reader, with an affinity for the works of Michael Crichton and James Clavell. His inquisitive mind never tired of mysteries. He also found great joy in playing bridge and developed many close friendships and great relationships along the way.
Tom worked hard caring for Gail Banet, his wife of 30+ years, until she passed in 2017. He began a new chapter and explored Ajijic and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico over his last 7 or 8 years. Tom often conveyed valuable life lessons to those around him. He had a passion for life, love, and discovery that will forever be imprinted on his loved ones.
Though he is no longer with us, Tom's legacy of a well-loved family and a passion for travel continue to live on. Our hearts are full with the memories we shared, each one a testament to his adventurous, loving spirit.
