Therese Gatwood, born January 1, 1940, in the Philippines, departed from this life on March 22, 2026. An incredible woman, Therese was known for her enduring strength, delicious cooking, and her unwavering love for her family.

During her lifetime, Therese had a great love of travel and spent much of her time in the Philippines with family and friends. She also had a great affinity for local diners she would frequent in the mornings over breakfast with her husband and close friends.

She was a beacon of warmth and kindness and her joyous spirit touched all who were fortunate to know her. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gatwood. She is survived by two children, June (Jim) Zipp and John (Elyssa) Gatwood, 4 grandchildren and one great-grandchild as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. 

A memorial service will be held at Crossroads Christian Church in Joliet at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 28. A celebration of life will immediately follow the service. Details will be shared at the memorial service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
