Therese's obituary
Therese Frances Becka, born June 3, 1953, to Richard and Irene Becka, in Cleveland, Ohio, transitioned from this world at her home in College Station, Texas, and into a place of Light and Quiet Peace.
A brilliant artist, Therese painted in oils with a reverence that felt like prayer. Her portraits of Native American leaders carried dignity, strength, and spirit, as if she were honoring stories that lived far beyond canvas and color.
She was a gypsy soul — wandering, curious, unbound by convention. Over the course of her life she called many places home, gathering pieces of sky, desert wind, and memory wherever she went. In every move, she carried art, laughter, and the courage to live life on her own terms.
Therese is survived by her daughter, Nicole Prejean, her siblings, Ann Babbitt, Rick Becka, Andrea McFarlin, Irene Becka, Mary Richards, Jeanne McFarlin, Madeline Becka, and Bobby Becka, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving son, Finis Becka, brother, David Becka, and parents, Richard and Irene Becka, with whom she is now reunited.
Details for a celebration of life will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are finalized.
Those who loved Therese will remember her not only for her paintings, but for the wild, beautiful spirit behind them — a spirit that could never truly be contained and will never be forgotten.
