Theresa (Terry)'s obituary
Theresa (Terry) Fox of Marana Arizona passed away peacefully on March 14, 2024 at the age of 93.
Born in Paterson New Jersey on May 13,1930, she was the daughter of Emil and Loretta De Lade. She was the oldest of three children; brothers Emil (deceased) and James.
Terry is survived by her two daughters, Bonnie (Luc) Deschenes of Port Rowan, Ontario Canada and Nancy (William) Staron of Marana, Arizona. She had five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by an infant son Gary (May 1956) and her husband Jack R. Fox (September 2015).
Terry graduated from St. John's Cathedral High School, Paterson, New Jersey, which led to a career in business administration. During that time she was Director of Volunteer Services at Jersey Shore (University)Medical Center, Neptune New Jersey and office manager for Dr. Howard Smith A.S.P.S. in Wall Township New Jersey and Vero Beach Florida.
Terry and Jack moved to the Jersey Shore in 1960, living in Neptune and Spring Lake Heights until their retirement years in Indian River Shores, Vero Beach Florida and Marana Arizona.
They loved daily breakfasts out, their 2 mile morning walk on the boardwalk, sunning on the beach from 10 until 2 and golf in the afternoon. As often as possible they loved cruising the Caribbean and dining out with friends. Hosting overnight visitors to share their beloved beach towns and later their beautiful desert sites brought them special joy.
Terry had 2 passions. For over 50 years she did beautiful cross-stitch and loved gifting them to friends and family and donating them as prizes for charitable causes. Equally important were her 30+ years of devoted volunteer work at Jersey Shore (University) Medical Center, Indian River Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital, Oro Valley Arizona. She continued volunteering until she was 90, when COVID suspended volunteer services.
There will be a private farewell and celebration of her life with a small group of family and friends at a future date.
Donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Terry's name would be greatly appreciated.
