A Celebration of Life: Theresa Reuther - March 30, 1945 – July 24, 2025

On July 24, 2025, the world lost a radiant light. Theresa Reuther, age 80, of St. Charles, Missouri, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. Theresa was a woman of deep faith, fierce compassion, and fun energy. She was the proud mother of Kelly Zeier, and the adoring grandmother of Harrison and Oliver—her greatest joys. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings: Francis Slama (Patricia), Joan Langevin, Marilyn Schroeder (Mike), Theodore Slama (Carol), and Marian Shetley (the late Randy) along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, family, and friends. Her family was her anchor, and she theirs.

Born in St. Louis on March 30, 1945, to the late Joseph and Edna Slama, Theresa’s life was rooted in service and learning. She attended St. George Catholic School and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1963. Answering a spiritual calling, she joined the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood in O’Fallon, earning her Bachelor of Education from St. Mary’s College. Though she left the convent in 1969, her devotion to helping others never faded.

Theresa’s journey as an educator began at St. Timothy’s in Affton and blossomed into a lifelong vocation. After marrying Louis Reuther in 1972 and welcoming their daughter, Kelly, she continued teaching at St. Charles Borromeo Parish. She later earned her master’s in education and counseling, serving as a beloved counselor at Barrington Elementary School until her retirement in 2009.

But Theresa was so much more than her career. She was a world traveler with a suitcase always half-packed, a ballroom dancer who floated across the floor, and a garage sale queen with an eye for hidden treasures. She loved games—board games, card games, word games—and played them with a competitive spirit and infectious laughter. Her wit was sharp, her heart generous, and her presence unforgettable.

Theresa had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved. Whether you were a student, a friend, or a stranger, she welcomed you with open arms and a warm smile. Her life was a mosaic of joy, faith, and deep connection, and her memory will continue to inspire all who knew her.

A Celebration of Theresa’s Life will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025, at 11 am – 3 pm at Pezold Banquet & Meeting Center - family and friends are invited to gather.  Appetizers will be served at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Theresa’s memory to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society: https://www.lls.org
