Theresa L. Zmuda (Bocek), age 96, of Schererville, IN passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022. She survived by her daughter in law Carlota Garcia-Zmuda († JohnTerry J. Zmuda); Step granddaughter, Carlota Cristina Andrade;(Bill Hermann) Step grandson, Oscar G. Andrade, Georgianne Suto & Shirley Jones Nieces and numerous nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews, great nieces & nephews and great- great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: Husband Walter Zmuda; Son JohnTerry J Zmuda; Parents Walter & Carlene Bocek, Sisters: Stephine & Ben Pluta; Genavive & Marion Komosenski; Lillian & George Horwath; Cecilia & Edward Sobczak; Brothers: Frank Bocek; Edward & Lottie Bocek; Stanley Bocek (Twin)

Theresa L. Zmuda (Bocek) Attended St. Stanislaus great School East Chicago, IN. Graduated from Roosevelt High School East Chicago, IN. Worked at Junior Toy Mfg. Co. Hammond, IN. Married Walter Zmuda June24, 1949. She and Walter built their own house by themselves at East Chicago where they lived 50 years.

Theresa enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, antiques, and the Blueberry Festivals. She didn’t bake too much but give her a hammer, nails, or shovel; she was happy. She enjoyed polish weddings, polka music. She loved family gatherings. She loved her ice cream, coffee & banana nut bread.

Theresa’s niece Georgianne Suto took care of her for 11 years and after her daughter in law Carlota and her step-grandson for 8 years took care for her until her passing.

Theresa left a lifetime of memories for her family and friends to cherish. She was loved by all her family and will be missed. Thank for all memories. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday 09/07/2022 at 10:30 am at St. James The Less Catholic Church, 9640 Kennedy Ave. Highland, IN 46322. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.
