Theresa's obituary
Theresa graduated from North Lenoir High School in 1981. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was always just a phone call away to offer guidance and support. Her steadfast love will live on in our hearts as well as her recipes on our family tables.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Eugene Bunn and Helen Johnson Bunn, and her sister, Debbie Lynn Bunn Thomas. She is survived by her daughter Cassie Steponkus and husband, Peter of New Bern; son, Bradley Kornegay and wife, Nikki of Ayden; significant other, Poncho Chavez of Maury; niece, Ashley Thomas of Kinston; nephew, Corey Thomas and wife, Angel of Kentucky; grandchild, Bentley Kornegay of Ayden. Theresa will also be missed by Smokey, her beloved cat, who laid by her side until her very last day.
In lieu of a traditional memorial service, the family has requested to have a private ceremony.
