Theresa's obituary

Theresa Marie Fitzhugh, age 91, of Waikoloa Village, Hawaii, died on April 1, 2022, in California.

Theresa was born in Washington, D.C., where she graduated from St Cecilia's School.  She married in 1952, and relocated westward many times, traveling first to Colorado, Utah, and California.  She graduated with a BA in English from California State University Sacramento (CSUS) in 1978, before moving to the tropical climate of her dreams -- first to Agana, Guam, and ultimately landing on the Big Island of Hawaii, where she lived in warmth and surrounded by natural beauty for more than 40 years.

Theresa was a wonderful artist, with her watercolor paintings depicting the flora and fauna of Hawaii proudly displayed in galleries on several of the Islands, including one on permanent display by the State of Hawaii, in Honolulu.

She made and kept lifelong friends at St Cecilia's,  CSUS, in her Waikoloa Village neighborhood and at the Kona Arts Center at Keauhou.

After her husband's death in 2006, Theresa traveled to California to visit her children nearly every year, spending extended periods with them in San Diego, Palm Springs, Marin County, Sacramento, and the Sierra Nevadas.

Theresa died after a long illness while being cared for by her family in California.

Theresa was preceded in death by her immediate family, her father Charles Macaboy, her mother Margaret Macaboy, her brothers Francis and Raymond Macaboy, her sister Jeannette Deane, her husband of 54 years, Robert, and her youngest son, Daniel.

Theresa is survived by her son, Clifton, her daughter Kathleen and her husband Edward, her daughter Kristina and her long-time companion Kevin,  as well as many nieces and nephews.
