Terri's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Theresa "Terri" Brewer-Cook, who departed this life on April 6, 2024. Born on September 7, 1952, Terri was a beacon of strength, love, advocacy, and determination, touching the lives of everyone she came across with her free-spirited, tenacious, and lively personality.
Terri is survived by her loving husband, Michael Cook, her seven children, Christopher Brunner, Michael Cook, Candis Cook, Kristen Cook, Bryan Cook, Julian Ollivierre (spouse Kristin) and Kimberly Evans (spouse Sheldon). She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Terri is survived also by her two siblings: Herman Brewer and Beverly Brewer, along with several nieces and nephews and cousins she adored. Their bond was as strong as it was inspiring, exhibiting the unconditional love Terri always taught about. This sense of warmth extended to everyone she met, making all feel like part of a grand family. Terri's love went beyond just humans to include all creatures, showcasing her compassionate and caring nature.
A proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Terri was a staunch advocate of education, boasting a Doctorate degree in Education among her many accomplishments. True to her nature, she passed on the importance of education and advocacy, inspiring countless lives along her journey.
An adventurous spirit, Terri loved spending time with her family and vacationing abroad. Her favorite vacation spot was the beach. She relished the simple pleasures in life, enjoying seafood and pasta, and unwinding with a glass of sparkling water, or her favorite – a dirty martini.
A Celebration of Life for Terri will be held on April 20, 2024, at 12:00 PM at 830 Foley St. This event will be a testament to Terri's vibrant life, encapsulated in her favorite color – Red.
In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to the American Heart Association, the National Council of Negro Women, and the Delta Research and Educational Foundation.
Terri's legacy of strength, love, advocacy, and determination will continue to inspire and guide us. Her life was a lesson in unwavering resilience, unconditional love, and the joy of living. We honor her memory best by staying true to these teachings and making every moment count.
