Ted's obituary

  • Ted passed away on April 21, 2023. He was 92. He was born in Hope Mills, NC and moved to Wilmington as a teenager. 

Ted joined ROTC at New Hanover High School of which he is a graduate 1949. He served in the Army (NC) National Guard for 26 years rising to the rank of Major  He was a paratrooper Green Beret and trained for Vietnam  

Ted worked at Babcock & Wilcox starting in 1952 as a layout designer and worked his way up to Supervisor until the plant closed in 1983  

Ted loved flounder fishing and going camping in the NC mountains  

Ted’s parents were Samuel McNeill and Kathleen (Cameron) McNeill  of Hope Mills and Wilmington, NC  

 He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Denise and her son, Jim; Ted’s younger brother and wife, Frank and Carita; his son Franklin Theodore and wife, Laura; his daughter Lynn Strickland, daughter Susan Fulton, and youngest daughter Tamara Lyn and husband Bradley Lowder.

 Ted had nine living grandchildren and two deceased, Michael & Little Frankie. Ted also has 26 great grandchildren 

Ted often enjoyed the company of and was close to his four remaining first cousins on his Mother’s side:  Don Carmen, Brenda Cameron, Mary Jane Fry, and Brucie Arrant.  He had few cousins on his fathers side but I do mention Brenda Culbreath  Ted’s best friends were, now also passed, Sonny Bryant, Royce Gower, and in their last years, his first wife, Ann McNeill  

.There are no events planned, as he did not wish to have services.

You may make a donation to Lower Cape Fear Hospice in his honor as an alternative to flowers.
