Theodore was my neighbor in the big house full of apartments. He lived in the basement, and I lived way up in the attic. I often stopped to have a chat with him when we saw each other in passing. I would occasionally bring his mail down to his apartment so he didn't have the climb the stairs (with no railing, thanks RJR) and risk slipping. We talked about being veterans and the proud sadness that it brings. I felt something was wrong in spring when I realized I hadn't seen him in awhile. Just call it a feeling, but I seemed to know. I lit a candle and said a prayer. Deepest condolences to the family, he was a sweet man.
