Our family met Dee as a new neighbour in Osoyoos. We learnt her to be a type of the person who would light up people around her and charge them with optimism. Unfortunately we've only known her for two short years or so, but were so blessed with this friendship! She will be dearly missed. Our sincere condolences to Bruce and Peter.

Dee was a very special friend to me and I’m so glad we reconnected last year.

I felt so blessed to have met Dee when we were new moms for the first time when living in White Rock BC . She travelled to Nelson on a few occasions to visit my late husband and oldest daughter and I after we moved into the interior of BC. Years later we sadly lost touch when we moved back to Nova Scotia.

Right from our first meetings , I could see that Dee was a seeker of the truth and a warrior of sorts. Somehow she navigated her way  through various employment situations with several different jobs in different locations and all while being a single mom! I unexpectedly became a single mom many years ago and gained a whole new perspective on how tough that journey can be. Somehow Dee made it all look easy and was able to flow with the moments as they were presented to her. I respect her for that more than ever.

Time and physical distance had separated us; but when we reconnected last January, it was like a day hadn’t passed us by when we started talking. I was shocked to hear about her illness and was  saddened about her passing.

I know she will be greatly missed. Condolences and hugs to Nick, Bruce and all of Dee’s siblings and family.  I know this can be a difficult time.
