Ann's obituary

Thelma "Ann" Knight, 77, of Bessemer, AL, was born on December 17, 1946, and passed away on May 25, 2024.


Ann was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and attended the Bessemer Ward congregation.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde E. Hastings and Thelma Elizabeth Hastings; one sister, Marie Hastings Reynolds, one brother, Clyde A. Hastings and by her husband of 44 years, Carl Elton "Papa Carl" Knight.

Ann is survived by her sisters, Hazel (Carl) Ratcliff and Ruby (Ray) Falkner, her children, David (Regina) Blake, Tammy Blake, Paige (Rodney) Parker, and Donna (Stephen) Knight, stepsons, Butch (Roxanna) Knight and Rocky Knight.  Also, nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.  As you can see, Ann loved children and always had a house full.

Ann spent nearly 50 years in the food service industry where she loved to serve good food to good people.  She ran four successful restaurant operations, 3 with her husband , Carl: Granny's Country Kitchen, Raggedy Ann's, Papa Carl's and their last venture, The Railroad Cafe.  In her own words: "I fed a lot of folks and Carl talked to them all."

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." (Mosiah 2:17)
