Freddie's obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Thelma "Freddie" Holland, who transitioned on April 9, 2025. Freddie was born on June 2, 1943, and was a beacon of kindness and love throughout her 81 years. A caring and nurturing soul, she was known for her genuine affinity toward people, always prioritizing others' needs above her own.

Freddie's greatest achievement was the unbreakable bond she formed with each individual she encountered. Her friends and acquaintances often remarked, "She was a good friend to all." This statement stands as a testament to her loving and embracing personality. Her unwavering support and love for those around her will be deeply missed, but her nurturing spirit will forever carry on.

Freddie was also an amazing cook and baker, whose home was often filled with the comforting aromas of delicious meals and sweet treats shared with loved ones. She was a talented quilter whose beautiful handmade creations warmed both hearts and homes. In honor of her artistry and the love she stitched into every piece, the family invites everyone who has a quilt made by Freddie to bring it to the funeral mass and hang it on the pews to share her work and spirit with all in attendance.

Freddie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Bill Holland; her daughters Melissa "Missy" Reyes (Rick) and Amy Munns (Tim); her grandchildren Alexandra "Alex" (Martín), Ricardo "Kiki", Angelica, TJ, Thalia, and Joey; her great-grandson, Ezra; her sister, Maria "Billie" Beck; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, and cousins.

In honor of Freddie's life, a rosary service will be held on June 24, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Resurrection of the Lord Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. A memorial mass will follow at 11:00 AM. Freddie will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:00 PM. The family will host a light lunch reception afterward; details to follow. Each of these gatherings will be an occasion to pay tribute to a life well-lived, filled with compassion, creativity, and love.

Freddie's life was an embodiment of selfless giving and heartfelt care. As we bid farewell to our beloved mom, grandmother, sister, and friend, we reflect on her nurturing spirit and thank her for the countless blessings she shared with us. Her memory will be forever cherished in our hearts, and we take comfort in knowing she now rests in eternal peace, free from pain and embraced by everlasting love.
