Thelma's obituary

Thelma Cosky, 96, of Willows, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2020.

Thelma was born on May 11th, 1924 to Pearl Elizabeth and Frank Leslie Bond in Colusa, Ca. She was the 7th of 12 children. 6 boys and 6 girls all born approximately 2 years apart.

As a teen, Thelma had 2 children. A girl that did not survive childbirth and a boy Lawrence (Larry) Leslie Ackerman (b. 1941).

Eight years later Thelma met the love of her life Ernest (Ernie) Cosky and as she always told us "when I saw him I knew that was the man I was going to marry" and they did 2 weeks later on January 29, 1949. In 1953 they adopted a boy, Ernest (Willie) William Cosky Jr. and 15 years later in 1968 they adopted a girl Laurie Margaret Marie Cosky.

Thelma was a lifelong homemaker and considered a mom or grandma by practically everyone she met. She absolutely loved kids and offered to watch/take care of any that she could.

Thelma's son Larry made her a grandma for the first time in 1968 with the adoption of his son Lawrence (Little Larry) Ackerman and then a 2nd time in 1978 with the birth of Christopher (Chris) William Ackerman. Thelma and Ernie then welcomed a third grandchild William Robert Cosky in 1979 from son Ernest (Willie). Their fourth and final grandchild was welcomed one year later in 1980 with the birth of Spring Elaine Ackerman (daughter of Larry).

"Grandma" then became a great grandma in 1993 with the birth of Little Larry's son Eric Jacob Ackerman and then again in 1998 with the birth of Little Larry's daughter Kristin Nichole Ackerman. Great grandchild #3 arrived in 2008 with the birth of William's son Maximus Robert Cosky. One year later William's daughter Faith Elizabeth Cosky was born in 2009. Chris and his wife then blessed Thelma with a final great grandson Ryker Ellis Ackerman in 2014.

Great Grandma then became Great Great Grandma with the birth of Kristin's son Nicholas (Boo-Boo) James Farris in 2017. Just 2 months ago Thelma found out she was going to be a great great grandma again in November of 2020 when Kristin welcomes son Noah Bentlee into the world. She was ecstatic!

Thelma was preceded in death by her son Larry in 1990, husband Ernie in 1998 and her great-great grandson Nicholas in 2019 as well as her siblings, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her son Willie of Willows, daughter Laurie of Long Beach, grandson Larry (and his wife Rose) of Newman, great grandson Eric of Modesto, great granddaughter Kristin of Newman, grandson Chris (and his wife Miranda) of Woodland, great grandson Ryker of Woodland, grandson William (and his wife Julie) of Lincoln, great grandson Max of Lincoln, great granddaughter Faith of Lincoln, and granddaughter Spring (and Kevin) of Sacramento.
