Theirry's obituary

On June 8, 2023, Thierry died unexpectedly in Buffalo, New York, of cardiac arrest. He was 21 years old. Thierry survives through his remarkable parents, Garfield and Denise Tully of Waterbury, Connecticut; his loving brothers Jermaine, Trey, Tevin, and Traven Tully; and many heartwarming close relatives and friends.

Thierry was born on December 7, 2001, in the Bronx, New York. He graduated from Frederick Douglas High School in 2018 and attended the University at Buffalo, and he expected to graduate with a degree in Engineering. Thierry was an ardent student. He often had aspiring conversations with his mom about completing classes and was persuaded to be successful in work and play. At 10 am every morning, Thierry’s alarm goes off with the title “time to be great.”

Thierry was a sweetheart. To know him is to love him. He loved his family with all his heart. He enjoyed making others around him laugh. A better son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend, schoolmate, one couldn't have asked for because everyone found exceptionality in Thierry. He had the brightest eyes and cuddly hugs that were very welcoming. He was the joy and fun anchor and a delight to be around wherever he went. He had plans to be home with his family this summer; he had great hopes to hang out with his brothers and work at a nearby waterpark where he would invite his family and friends, working and having a good time. He even chuckled about installing a basketball hoop in front of his house, where he and his brother would enjoy and hoop away.

On June 8th, while he and his friend played a basketball game, Thierry collapsed and was rushed to a nearby medical facility; in hopes of help, he told a friend to “call my mom.” While he got the medical attention he needed, God had the final say. Thierry transitioned, and the news has left tons and tons of loved ones dampened, but Thierry’s smile, festive spirit, willingness to overcome, and delightful manner will forever beat the rhythm of our hearts. The sorrowful fact that you’re no longer here with us, Thierry, is not goodbye but an interlude until we see your smile and hug you again in glory. You were everything we hoped for, and may our continuous thoughts of you serve as a blueprint in our daily lives; each day will be a “time to be great.” Thierry, you’re forever in our hearts; we know you would’ve always lightened our moods, though we no longer have you with us, and we may assume various emotions. Thierry, we will keep your festive spirit going, and may the memories of you be the reason we smile today, forever, and always. Thierry, we love you, and thank you for the fun and positive ways you’ve so enthusiastically impacted our lives.

To everyone, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kind words, support, and prayers at this time and beyond. We are immensely grateful. God bless you all!
