Theda Okun, age 86, of Boca Raton, Florida and former long-term resident of Rye Brook, New York, passed away on January 11, 2022. Beloved wife of Stanley I. Okun (who passed away on July 22, 2019); Loving father of Linda St.Dennis, Beverly Wachtel (Jerry), Judith Okun (Mark Guterman) and Marc Okun (Sharon); Cherished grandfather of Walter St.Dennis III (Monika), Andrew St.Dennis (Michelle), Jonathan Wachtel (Ninette), Lisa Wachtel Krieg (David), Edward Guterman, Deborah Guterman Lewis (Peter), Jared Okun, and Evan Okun; Adored great-grandfather of Catherine, Walter IV, Alexander and Zachary. Dear sister of Carl Solowey (who passed away on September 23, 2022). Theda “Teddy” Okun worked as Office Manager for her husband’s dental office and as a tutor for children with learning disabilities. She held a Master’s in Special Education. She served as president of her local chapter of both Hadassah and B’nai Brith and was honored by UJA and KTI for her contributions to the community. After her husband passed, she lived in assisted living facilities in White Plains and then Briarcliff Manor. A small Graveside Service was held at Sharon Gardens Kensico Cemetery on Wednesday, January 12th and, due to the COVID pandemic, an online Zoom Service was also held later that day. Donations may be made to Hadassah, Temple Beth Shalom (Boca Raton, FL), or Congregation KTI - Kneses Tifereth Israel (Port Chester, NY).
