The U.S. McDonnell Douglass "Old Smokey" Phantom II was retired on March 26, 1996, in Saint Louis, Missouri, after a long run of 38 years in the U.S. military. He was introduced to the armed forces on December 30, 1958, after being developed in Saint Louis, Missouri. Old Smokey had 116 confirmed kills from 1969 to 1982 and fought in the Vietnam War and the Falklands War. He was born in America and retired here but he still lives on today in Iran, Greece, Turkey, and South Korea.
