Mrs. Sparks, I knew you as Miss Powell….1972 and 1973 first and second year shorthanded. Your strict teachings on proper grammar and writing skills are probably the most valuable lessons I learned my entire high school years. In my professional career, I was always the person asked to proofread for my coworkers, and even my bosses. I always admired the gold hoop earrings that you wore, and wished I had a pair just like them. You made a difference. I am sorry for your loss and pray that your memories are a comfort to you.

To Jane and the Sparks family: it saddens me to hear of Terry’s passing. Terry and I coached and taught together at Tucker High School for several years. Our years at Tucker were great. It was always a pleasure to see and visit with Terry at retired coaches breakfasts. May God bless each and every one of the family and remember that God is good and will see you through this.

The Sparks family, my heart goes out to each of you in passing of your husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Coach Sparks had an impact on many teenagers throughout his life both on and off the playing field. As a former student at Henderson, there are many of us who have great stories about the player - coach or student - teacher that Coach Sparks was to each of us. Some of these stories are of us coming of age and recognizing later on the impact coaches like Sparks have on our lives. I am thankful for his sharing of his faith in Jesus Christ and the many seeds he planted in our hearts and for others to come water beside us. Rest in Peace and may God comfort each of you in His special way.

Almighty God, we give You our thanks and praise for this day and one more opportunity to carry out Your Work and Your Will; strengthen us to do so with joy and gratitude in our hearts. Lord, on this day, into Your hands, we humbly entrust our dear brother and faithful, loving child of God, Coach Terry Sparks who, having living his life of humble and faithful service to Almighty God, his family and his community has received his ultimate reward – eternal life with Almighty God. Lord, in this life You embraced Coach Sparks with Your tender love; his previous life has passed away, welcome him into paradise, where there will be no sorrow, no weeping nor pain, but the fullness of peace and joy with Your Son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Eternal, living God, we ask that You hear our prayers in this time of Coach’s passing. Be a source of courage and hope for wife Jane and his entire family and may our faith in Jesus Christ bring us all, at our time, to life with You and the company of Saints that have gone before us, forever. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ who unsettles our lives for the sake of Your love and taught us all to Pray saying. . . Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, forever...AMEN

I’m so sorry to read this. Growing up at Clarkston Baptist we always admired these twin families!! There were such positive role models and so kind to the “ teenagers of the church.”
I pray that each of you are comforted by the happy memories of times together and you feel peace and comfort in the coming days. I wish I could hug you on Monday but you all will be in my prayers.

I was saddened when I heard the news of Terry's passing. Mrs. Sparks I am unable to get away to come to Terry's funeral. Just know that I will have you close in prayer. Terry was a wonderful person when I started HHS in 1970. Above all he was a special coach to his guys. He must have been a lot of fun to have as a spouse. I'm sure you will miss him alot.Take good care of yourself.

Condolences Mrs. Sparks. My 1972 shorthand teacher at Henderson. You were the best. All of the writing and grammar skills, I learned from you, and they served me well throughout my professional career. May God bless you and your family.
