Terry's obituary

Terry Lee Moser

November 11, 1948 – December 25, 2024

Terry Lee Moser, 76, passed away peacefully early Christmas morning at The Hansen House in Yuma, Arizona. Born on November 11, 1948, in Streator, Illinois, and raised in Lexington, Illinois, Terry lived a full and adventurous life, leaving behind a legacy of love, humor, and cherished memories.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Tonya Moser; his daughters Leah (James) Wansley of Whitehouse, TX, and Carrie (Stephen) Stavinoha of Pearland, TX; and his adoring grandchildren, Megan Wansley, Paige Wansley, Zachary Stavinoha, Ella Stavinoha, and Robyn Stavinoha. He is also survived by his stepmother, Bonnie Moser of Normal, IL; brother, Jeff Moser of Spring City, TN; sister, Sonja (Nick) Clark of El Paso, IL, and stepbrother, Marty (Debbie) Fillenworth of Bloomington, IL.

Terry is preceded in death by his mother Johanne Stimpert, father Warren Lee Moser, and brothers Tim and Mike Moser.

An Army veteran, Terry also earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from Illinois State University. He built a successful career as a drilling superintendent at Sonat Exploration in Tyler, TX, before retiring at the age of 50. Following his retirement, Terry and Tonya embraced life on the road as full-time RVers, creating countless memories during their 19 years of travel. Since 2003, they spent their winters at Country Roads RV Village in Yuma, Arizona, where they formed deep friendships and became part of a vibrant community.

An avid pool player throughout his life, Terry served as president of the Country Roads Billiard Club for eight years and could be found playing daily with friends who shared his passion for the game. He and his wife, Tonya, enjoyed competing in amateur tournaments together and traveled extensively to watch professional billiards events, including the Mosconi Cup in London.

Known for his down-to-earth nature, sharp wit, and sense of humor, Terry was a genuine and dependable presence in the lives of everyone who knew him. He was a devoted husband and father, beloved “Papa” to his grandkids, and a cherished friend to many. Over the years, he imparted wisdom through a collection of his own quotes, affectionately called "Moserisms". These sayings, brimming with insight and humor, continue to be cherished by his family as reflections of his unique perspective on life. He had a knack for lifting spirits, and his favorite song, “Bumble Boogie” by B. Bumble and the Stingers never failed to bring a smile to his face and a boogie to his feet.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 9, at 12:30 p.m. in the East Ballroom at Country Roads RV Village (5707 E 32nd St, Yuma, AZ, 85365), followed by the opening of the “Terry Moser Memorial Tournament”, an annual pool tournament featuring a competition between the top five players from Country Roads and the top five players in Yuma, renamed in Terry’s honor. The pool tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Billiard Room.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Terry’s honor to the Country Roads Billiard Club, reflecting his lifelong passion for the game and the friendships it fostered.

Donations can be sent to: Country Roads RV Village, ATTN: Billiard Club, 5707 E 32nd St, Yuma, AZ, 85365

Terry’s spirit will forever inspire joy, laughter, and a sense of adventure in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him, serving as a lasting reminder of a life well-lived and deeply loved.

“LIVE for a lifetime. LOVE like there’s no tomorrow.” - T. L. Moser
