Obituary

In loving memory of Terri Swaggert

It is with a heavy heart that I write this announcement of my beautiful mother’s passing on the morning of 11/30/22 at our home in Fridley, MN. For the last nine months, she valiantly faced her battle with ALS. We are so grateful she finally felt at peace to transition on her own.

The amount of admiration and love we have for her is indescribable, and she will be …

Personal note from Terri's daughter, Amelia

Thank you to all who joined us to remember and celebrate the spirit and legacy of Terri! Please feel welcomed and encouraged to continue sharing your memories and stories on this page. Simply click the "Memories" tab on this site to do so.
Lastly, to date, we've collectively raised more than $5,000 in honor and memory of Terri Swaggert! Thank you so much for your generous contributions. It means so much to be able to further support research of ALS and provide resources for those who are experiencing this disease as a patient, caregiver, or loved one.

Dear family & friends,
It's hard to believe it's already been nearly two months. As difficult as these past several weeks have been, there have also been so many moments of beautiful connections made, condolences shared, and memories relived. We look forward to celebrating mom's life, legacy, and spirit together this Thursday. Please feel welcomed and encouraged to wear colors and patterns; I never envisioned this day as all-black and somber. We're gathering in a beautiful garden, and I think we should dress accordingly! Anything you are most comfortable in is perfect. Also, we'd love to invite anyone to share a few words; a poem, a memory, anything you might feel called to share. We would love to hear from you as we remember her! As a reminder, the event is from 4:30-6pm at the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory, followed by 6pm onwards at Gabe's Bar & Kitchen. Reach out if you have any questions.

My beautiful mom transitioned from her human form the morning of 11/30/22, after nine months of valiantly facing her battle with ALS. She is finally free. 🕊️ To be by her side and with my family these past six weeks was truly the greatest honor of my life. I’m thankful she felt so immensely loved and supported, she was finally at peace with letting go. She has always been the most strong-willed person, and she held on harder these past couple months than we could have possibly known. She held on to witness my wedding, and for our last holiday as a family. She held on until Wednesday morning, knowing we’d meet with our home hospice team later that afternoon to discuss her end of life wishes. She knew we would all be together, she knew we would be there to comfort each other. I do feel that she chose the exact moment of her departure. Her strength until the very end, her will.. It is absolutely remarkable. She chose the peaceful transition that she wanted, and the exact moment she decided to let go. My amazing mama.
She was truly the best mother. Filled with so much love and pride. I’m so proud to be her daughter and so grateful to have been raised and so beautifully cared for by her and my dad. They sacrificed so much and gave us the world, and allowed us to become exactly who we were meant to be and evolve into. Always supporting us and encouraging us and loving us through it all.
This journey was devastating, surreal and so utterly raw. But the four of us were on it together until the very end. Hand-in-hand. I am so proud of her, of all of us.
