Background
In his life, TW expressed a no-frills sensibility about his end of life plans. In his playful, yet serious way, he used to always say "just put me in a pine box."
Unfortunately, "just put me in a pine box" isn't as straightforward as it seems. So, when TW's health began to decline in 2023, his family knew they needed to explore some feasible options together. While the conversations were sometimes difficult, especially given the loss of TW's voice beginning in September of 2023, we were able to propose several options.
Ultimately, TW chose to be cremated and have his ashes held at the St. Francis by the Lake Episcopal Church columbarium in Canyon Lake, TX.
Friends and family know that, despite his time being short at St. Francis, TW found a home there, and the church rector, Father David Chalk, became a dear friend who understood TW's electrifying sense of humor, rebellious spirit, unequivocal creativity, and love of God.
We feel this choice will not only honor TW's wishes, but also complete a circle of connection and meaning that nurtures community and relationship between important people in TW's life.
Any donations are deeply appreciated and will be used in the following ways--
• Cremation expenses
• Celebration of Life expenses (including a sendoff art
installation/"joke" TW created in these last few weeks
of his life).
• Fee for lifetime maintenance of memorial website that
allows loved ones to contribute photos,
music, videos, and other memories to the site in
perpetuity.
• Any remainder will be split in half and donated to--
• Lone Star Parkinson Society, a nonprofit
Parkinson's support group founded by TW's close
friend Tommy Dubuque.
• St. Francis by the Lake Episcopal Church, TW's
