Terrance's obituary
Terrence Lee Wiseman, MD, 78, passed away on September 27, 2022, at the Edgerton Care Center after a long illness. Terrance was born April 27, 1944, in Joliet, Illinois. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon, his partner in crime and stepdaughter Michelle Baney, his son John (Amy) Wiseman, daughter Jennifer (Chris) Borresen and his grandchildren Elias Borresen, Marlowe and Arraya Squires-Wiseman, his brothers David (Marjorie) Wiseman, Allan (Linda) Wiseman and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Wiseman and his grandparents.
Terry grew up in Joliet on Ridgewood Avenue with his extended family and a close group of friends. He was proud to be one of the first family members to attend college, starting with Joliet Junior College, then at Valparaiso University in Indiana, and finally at University of Illinois. After graduation, he practiced medicine in Janesville, Wisconsin for most of his career as an allergist.
On November 3, 1990 Terry married the love of his life, Sharon. They spent many happy years traveling across the world together, but they were also content to check out the thrift shop or spend time at home with their many cats. Despite his prolonged illness, their love never waned, and Sharon was Terry’s best advocate. Throughout his last days, Terry lit up whenever he saw Sharon, “Hi Beautiful!”
Terry had a lifelong love of books, travel, nature, and conversation. He always had a scientific journal in his hands to discuss, and he loved to talk about the places he visited or stories from growing up on Ridgewood Avenue. At one time he was the youngest member of the Audubon Society. Terry always found the joy in life. He had too many hobbies to list: photography, coin collecting, antiquing, hiking, fly tying, and fishing, just to name a few.
Terry was always surrounded by family. After leaving Illinois, he moved his parents and grandparents to be near to him. Into adulthood Terry maintained close relationships with his brothers, despite the distance, via phone calls and trips. He was also incredibly proud of his children. If you knew him you had probably heard what John scored on the ACT, Jennie’s grade in organic chemistry, or how many times Missy won at Bingo.
His family would like to thank the staff at Edgerton Care Center and Agrace Hospice for their exceptional care.
Terry requested private services, though his family is thankful for the support during this difficult time.
