Terra's obituary

Terra Michelle Gorman

Terra Michelle Gorman, aged 42, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away on March 5, 2023.

Terra was born to Stephen Gorman and the late Susan Johnson on March 26, 1980. She grew up in Foristell and Wentzville, Missouri. Terra graduated from high school and then attended Lindenwood University. She worked as an electrician and lighting specialist. Terra worked on movie and news sets, TV shows, interviews, music videos, and more. Her favorite TV show that she worked on was a children’s show called Wonderama.

Terra was an extra in several movies. She sang and played five musical instruments, the banjo, acoustic and bass guitars, violin, and euphonium, which is a small tuba like instrument. Terra made a record album and toured when she was in the music group Tony Wain and the Payne during her time in Asheville, North Carolina.

Terra started a free book exchange on her block eight years ago and it’s still going. She kept cat food for the outside cats, and, carried dog biscuits in a Ziploc for any chance dog meetings. She was always ready and eager to help anyone. Her heart was so full of love for others. Terra truly was one of the kindest people you could ever meet.

Terra loved to garden; she grew many of the herbs that she dried and cooked with. She made and sold her famous Dr. Freckle Butt Kimchi at her local farmer’s market. She was an amazing cook. She had an innate knowledge of food and cooking. Food was her #1 passion and her love came through in the food.

Terra volunteered her time at Food for Brooklyn food pantry. She would hand a piece of paper to the patrons at the pantry and ask them to write down something they were grateful for. She also liked to help the patrons find just the right clothing. The pantry brought her much joy.

Terra made sure you knew you were important and valued. She had so many special gifts, but she never bragged about her accomplishments, in fact, she kept them to herself. Humble. Terra’s last gift to this world was as an organ donor. She made a difference in this world, made it a better place to be.

Terra is preceded in death by her grandparents, Paul, Mary, and Bill, mother Susan, sister Jaymie, and many others who loved her.

Terra leaves behind many heartbroken people who basked in her warm light. We will love her and miss her until we see her once again in God’s kingdom, His Garden, with Terra as one of His beautiful flowers.
