Teresa “Terry” Elaine Merkle, aged 61, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2022, at her home in Royse City, TX. Terry was born on December 17, 1960 in Fort Sill, OK to Claude and Shirley Sheffield. Terry graduated from Balboa High School in Panama in 1979. In 1986 she met the love of her life, Walter, while she was working at Colonial Baking in Memphis, TN. After they married, Terry joined Walter in Texas where they spent 33 wonderful years together and raised two sons, Ryan and Justin. She was extremely proud of her boys. Terry’s passions in life were her faith and family.

Terry loved quilting and had recently started a quilting business with one of her best friends. She also loved crafting, embroidery and cross-stitching and was always excited about her projects. Terry enjoyed bowling with all the ladies in the Wednesday Women’s league where she made many friends and where she was well known for giving hugs. She loved flowers and growing food for the family and she and Walter loved spending time working in their garden. They also raised chickens which she loved and had fondly named. She loved get-togethers with family and friends be it a pool party in summer, a birthday or any holiday. She was the best at bringing everyone she loves together to share a meal, catch-up and talk us into playing some silly game. She lived for the simple things in life.

Terry is survived by her beloved husband Walter, her sons Ryan Merkle and daughter-in-law Lexi, Justin Merkle and daughter-in-law Mirna, her mother Shirley Sheffield, sister Tracy Moore and brother-in-law Keith, brother CJ Sheffield, as well as her two grandsons, Jackson and Dean Merkle, and many other family members and close friends who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father Claude Sheffield.

To honor Terry’s memory, we are holding a celebration of her life (date and time TBD.) We invite family and friends to attend and remember her wonderful life. The family also invites you to make a donation to colon cancer research in her honor, in place of sending flowers.
