Teresa's obituary
Teresa Guadalupe Gramajo de Tahay peacefully passed away at the age of 72 at her home in Portland, Oregon, on June 22, 2022, surrounded by her cherished loved ones. She bravely faced a courageous battle with cancer, holding on with all her strength to be near her beloved children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Samuel Tahay. Teresa leaves behind her treasured children, Samuel J. and Anna Liz, her caring son-in-law Ruben, and her four precious grandchildren, whom she adored deeply.
Born in Guatemala into a large and loving family, Teresa’s roots spanned across her homeland and extended lovingly throughout the United States and Guatemala, where she is survived by several siblings, nieces, nephews, and many dear relatives.
Teresa’s life was one of dedication and warmth. She was a beloved teacher in Guatemala, inspiring her students with boundless love and enthusiasm. Later, she and her husband answered a heartfelt calling to the United States, where she lovingly supported his ministry. Teresa played an active role in church life, organizing events, serving in various positions, and offering her kindness and grace to the community.
A devoted homemaker, Teresa lovingly raised her son Samuel J., who faced the challenges of brain cancer from a young age. Her nurturing spirit touched countless lives, from her former students to the many church families who were blessed by her generous heart, delicious meals, and unwavering devotion.
Teresa’s children and grandchildren hold her memory close, forever grateful for the love, affection, and warmth she so generously shared. Her spirit lives on in their hearts, a gentle light until they are reunited once more.
