Teresa's obituary

Teresa Ann Gillane, known as “Annie” by her family, lived a life of generosity and laughter leaving a lasting impact on everyone who met her. Teresa was always there to help and take care of both her immediate and extended family.

Born in Phoenix, Arizona to her Mexican-American mother, Martha and Irish father Joseph, she was the second oldest in a family of five children: one older brother and four younger sisters.

In her accomplished career, Teresa dedicated herself to Human Resources and Payroll, where her expertise and leadership had a profoundly positive impact on everyone who worked with her.

Although she spent most of her career in Human Resources and Payroll, her true passion was food and cooking—a love she discovered in early childhood while assisting her mom in catering church luncheons, and one that persisted as she cooked in restaurants and for loved ones throughout her life.

Teresa's lifelong dream was to open her own restaurant. In 2010, she moved to New York City to attend The Culinary Institute of America, where she refined her culinary passion and skills, moving closer to achieving her goal. During her eight years in New York City, Teresa embraced her passions to the fullest. She cultivated her love for culinary arts, frequented award-winning restaurants, and had the privilege of meeting renowned chefs who inspired her, making the most of her time in the vibrant culinary scene of the city.

Teresa’s life was spent between La Jolla, California and her beloved New York City where she welcomed friends and family into her elegant world. Her home is forever filled with exceptional food, drinks, and laughter, always open to anyone in need.

Teresa’s life was a testament to the power of generosity and the enjoyment of life’s luxuries and beauty. She will be deeply missed by all who know her.

Teresa is survived by her daughters Loretta (Jon) Obuchowski and Melissa (Javier) Salazar. Grandchildren; Martha Lousie Obuchowski and Noah Salazar. Sisters; Mary Christine Gillane, Martha Kathy Gillane, and Kerry Margaret Gillane. Nieces; Celeste Baginski, Brookes Baginski, Maura Gillane, and Nephew Sean Gordon.

Teresa was proceeded in death by her mother, Martha Gillane, her father, Joseph Gillane, and brother, Vincent Gillane.

Mother Theresa said, “Spread love everywhere you go”, our Teresa lived by spreading love, laughter, good food and a strong drink everywhere she went. We hope you live your life to the fullest, just as she did and just as she would want.

In remembrance of Teresa a contribution site has been set up here to assist the family with medical, funeral and other unexpected expenses.
