Governor Phil Murphy appointed Tereek DaSilva as the chief medical examiner of northern regional medical examiner office in Newark nj. Tereek DaSilva is the youngest medical examiner ever to be appointed chief medical examiner. He been with the state department for 3 years. He graduated from Princeton University. He received his bachelor’s in mortuary science. He started working with the department as in intern and got a full time job time. His current title is head medical examiner his salary is $150,900 a year. His new position will boost his salary to $250,3000 a year. He will take his new position January 1st 2020. Governor Phil Murphy said “ Today we make history in the state of New Jersey as we get a new chief medical examiner”. We visit the county medical examiner to talk with Dr. DaSilva. “ I’m proud to get this position it was so unexpected and came out of left field. I love what I do and I love helping families get the answer to their loves ones cause of death and put their minds at ease at the most difficult time of their lives. I love the people I work with and so grateful for this opportunity and to show everyone it doesn’t matter what age or race you are you can become anything you want there’s no more age requirement now and days”. The current chief medical examiner is retiring with more then 30 years in.
