Teddy (Ted)'s obituary
Born on February 1, 1936, in Canyon, Texas, as the youngest of 10 children to Corrie and Maggie Lowe, Teddy grew up learning the lessons of hard work and integrity that defined his life on the family farm. Upon graduating from Canyon High School he received an Opportunity Awards Scholarship to Texas A&M University where he felt gratitude and dedication to for the rest of his life. He went on to be Head Yell Leader for the Class of ’58 and later served as Class Agent for decades.
Upon graduation from Texas A&M, Ted joined the United States Air Force where he began a distinguished career of over 28 years, with extensive service in Vietnam and eventually retired as a USAF Colonel. After his military post and later successful career as an executive at Hochheim Prairie Insurance, Teddy retired to his beloved College Station so that he could “Worship at the Aggie Shrine on a daily basis”, and become a season ticket holder in multiple sports. He regularly attended and volunteered at the 12th Man Museum as well as many other Aggie causes he supported throughout his years of retirement.
Family was always first in Ted’s life. In 1963, he met a gorgeous nurse named Alice Elizabeth (Liz) Lee and soon after they married and shared 55 years of wedded bliss, moving around the world with family in tow while making countless friendships. They were blessed with two children, Lisa and Robert, a daughter-in-law, Amy, and two grandchildren, Tristan and Tyler (who they enjoyed spoiling regularly). He was also a father figure and mentor to many extended family and friends through the years, and he could always be counted on for anything imaginable, even if bologna and cheese sandwich or cowboy beans and a seat at the table.
Ted’s motto was always “Think Positive!”, and he was the best example of how to live life that anyone could ask for. Teddy Lowe was our hero and will be missed by all were touched by his love.
A reception will be held for family and friends to celebrate his life together on September 7, 2019, at 10:30 am at the Ice House on Main located at 800 N. Main Street, Bryan, TX.
