Teddy's obituary

Thank you all for loving Teddy.

Teddy passed away peacefully at 4:45 pm on Monday, February 5, 2024.  He would have been 16 on Saturday.

He was probably the most photographed dog in the world…he was a ham and loved it!  Teddy was my constant companion…if you knew me…you knew Teddy!

He was loving and devoted until the very end.  He fought a 3.5 year battle of prostate cancer and handled it like a champ. I’ve learned so much from Teddy.

As a puppy, he took many classes and obtained numerous awards, including Agility Training and Canine Good Citizen.  I never could figure out how he passed his Agility Training class…he didn’t pay attention throughout the entire 6 week course,  he was much more interested in all the other dogs in the class, that was until test day…where he ran the obstacle course like he owned it!

He could solve the hardest dog treat puzzles out there.  He wanted the treat.

Throughout the years, Teddy dried my tears whenever I needed it.  He always looked better than his owner…as he had a standing grooming appointment with Sarah every other week for almost 16 years.

And I’m sure I don’t have to describe the look on Tara’s face, my long time friend and stylist, upon me bringing in a clipping of hair so she could make mine the same color…she simply said…is that Teddys hair?!  It was and she did it…and I wore it platinum blonde for many years.

His posture would remarkably change when I’d take him to a store…I used to laugh and say what are you doing?…he would suddenly start walking like royalty … knowing, everyone would want to pet him once inside.

Chick-Fil-A’s Santa and crew waited on his arrival each and every year, where he took his annual Christmas photo. He had his own special Christmas gift bags that I placed on the staircase every year…it was always so much fun…first, surprising him by putting them up while he was outside and of course, checking inside them on Christmas morning. He would climb the stairs, one by one, sticking his nose inside each bag to see what Santa brought before moving to the next.

I used to write a blog…Life According To Teddy…about the everyday antics of this remarkable boy. My step father used to publish them in the local Penny Saver many, many years ago.

I miss him so much. I’m not sure what to do without him. I know I’m better for having known him and to have held him as we said goodbye.

Close friends Nancy, Michele and Linda cried with me on the phone.

Teddy was surrounded by Bryan, who helped me take such good care of him…he even took him mountain climbing last month!  Dr. Coyle and Vet. Tech Melissa, both of whom had come to know and love Teddy in the 3.5 years that he had been receiving treatments at Blue Pearl for his cancer.  Dr. Coyle said Teddy broke all survival records and will be talked about for years to come.  At church, the first questions my friends would ask is “How’s Teddy doing?”

Goodbye, Teddy. Rest in Peace in Heaven… until we meet again. Psalms 36:6
