Ted's obituary
Ted graduated from South Houston High School in 1962. A few years later, he was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. For his heroic efforts during the war, he earned a Bronze Star medal with Valor. Upon completion of his military service, he returned to his career in sales with Lamon’s Gasket Company where he later retired after 20+ years with the company.
On September 15, 1971, Ted married the love of his life, Charlotte Ainsworth. They raised three daughters together over the course of their 50- year marriage. Ted’s favorite hobbies included hunting, working on old cars, and watching baseball. He enjoyed playing, coaching, and watching sports, and was a dedicated Astros fan for most of his life. His love of cars started in his childhood and continued into retirement where he worked to restore his 1952 Chevy. Ted enjoyed having a good time with friends and his wife Charlotte would tell you that he was the best dance partner. Ted's favorite memories were family vacations at Lake LBJ. Each year he returned with his family to Lake LBJ and created some of the happiest memories with his wife, children, grandchildren and many other extended family members and friends. Ted enjoyed life to the fullest, and his laughter was contagious and is one of the things his family will miss most. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Ted is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Dunn; daughters, Amy Dunn of Texas City, Texas, Charlene (Jason) Clark of Houston, Texas, and Jenny (Heath) Drager of Houston, Texas; grandchildren Madelynn and Jackson Clark and Isabelle, Peyton, and Reese Drager; brother, Jay Haley of Houston, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. His brother, William “Bill” Haley, preceded him in death. To all who knew and loved Ted, it was an honor to share life with him. He will live in our memories and hearts.
