Taylor's obituary
Taylor Janet McVitty, T$, of Westcliffe, Colorado, left this world far too soon. For 34 remarkable years, those who loved her were lucky enough to know a soul as rare as hers — and to know her was to experience something truly special. On February 6, 2026, she passed surrounded by those she loved.
Her untimely death was preceded by her beloved parents, Anna and Darren McVitty. Though the loss of them all feels impossibly heavy, there is a quiet beauty in imagining them reunited —together in a place of peace.
She is survived by her soul dog, Zero; her special boy, Ruger; her silly cat, Mango; and her beloved equines—Buck, an ex-rodeo horse she saved from a kill pen who, in turn, helped save her childhood dreams, and Dan, an old mule she happily spoiled with treats and affection.
Taylor was an extraordinarily talented artist. Whether through her silversmithing or her nature photography, she saw the world in a way that was entirely her own. Her work was effortless and beautiful—just like she was. She made her home in a special slice of rural Colorado, nestled beneath the snowy peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, where she built a life rooted in authenticity, grit, and grace. She loved her ranch, her animals, and the quiet magic of the land she called home. Above all, she was unapologetically true to herself.
She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
In lieu of flowers or memorials, those closest to her hope that you honor her by noticing the magic in the world around you, loving your animals fiercely, and finding peace in who you are, what you have, and what you can become.
“In peace, may you leave this shore. In love, may you find the next. Safe passage on your travels, until our final journey to the ground. May we meet again.” - Taken from Anna's obituary written by Taylor
