Taryn's obituary
Taryn Elizabeth Crawford Hanehan November 14, 1963 - September 13, 2024
Taryn Elizabeth Crawford Hanehan entered into eternal rest on September 13, 2024 in Knoxville, TN. Taryn is survived by her husband of 26 years, Frank Hanehan, her children Lainey Hanehan and Jack Hanehan, brothers Michael Crawford and John “Scott” Crawford, and also by nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, the late E’Telca “Judy” Boyd Crawford and her brother, the late Darryl Crawford.
At a young age of 60 years, Taryn was a native of Gretna, LA, and resident of Boston, MA, San Francisco, Pacifica and San Ramon, CA. and Fairfield Glade, TN. Taryn chose to forego her successful sales career and raise Lainey and Jack as her full time job. She helped tutor them at home and through school along with driving them to extracurricular activities for both softball and baseball. To Lainey and Jack, she was more than the "Best Mom" anyone could have, she was also a friend and confidant to them, entertaining them with her infectious laugh and love of movies and nature. She was their "Queen" and their everything. She was a role model for the equality of women, and through her actions showed that women can be strong, resilient and accomplished.
Taryn was a masterful chef in all regards, but specialized in Cajun cuisine passed down from her grandmother and her mother and added her own special touches to each of the dishes. Her two voluminous cookbooks will be cherished by her children and many of her friends still wondering how she did what she did in the kitchen. Taryn was known for her great laugh first and foremost, along with her generosity, fairness, work ethic and love of family & friends. You didn't have to wait long to hear her laughing at parties with family and friends, causing those around her to join in with their own laughter. As we Celebrate her Life, remember her laugh and don't hesitate to join in with others, she would love that as a great way for all of us to honor her.
