Taryn's obituary

Taryn Burks

JACKSONVILLE - Miss Taryn “Tare-Bear” Danielle Burks, 22, of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away on May 21, 2025, in her hometown. Born on November 20, 2002, in Jacksonville, Taryn brought light and warmth into the world from the very beginning.

A proud graduate of The Aveda Institute in 2023, Taryn pursued her passion for beauty and self-expression through makeup, hair, and skincare. Her creativity extended far beyond her certifications as she was an artist at heart who found joy in drawing, crafting, creating and exploring new experiences. Whether she was experimenting with a new art form or simply enjoying the outdoors, Taryn embraced life with a vibrant spirit and an open heart.

Taryn dedicated her professional life to working with children diagnosed with various special needs. Through listening, caring, love, and studying, she formed meaningful connections that reflected her deep compassion and unwavering kindness. Her work was not just a job—it was a calling that showcased her brilliance and loyalty to those around her.

Known affectionately as “Tare-Bear, Pumpkin Seed, Pumpkin Butt, Pumpkin Pants...,” Taryn was a unique soul whose presence left an indelible mark on everyone she met. She was more than a daughter, sister, grand daughter, niece, cousin, friend or employee —she was a best friend. Fiercely loyal and endlessly loving, she had a fiery spirit balanced by wisdom beyond her years. Her love for animals mirrored her gentle nature and boundless empathy.

Taryn is lovingly remembered by her father Timothy Burks Sr., mother Tammy Hoffman, brother Timothy (TJ) Burks Jr., stepfather Chris, Grandma Dot, Uncle Jeff, Aunt Nicki, Uncle Buddy, Aunt Sissy and Uncle Danny along with her dog, Trauma, her bearded dragon, Lemmy, and her cat, Mew Mew.

She now joins in peace with her Grandma, Kathryn Hunter and Pop, Rex McDaniel along with her cats, Josie, Mila, Milo, and baby kitten, Dot; her rabbit, Godzilla; her dog, Izzy; her gecko, Mink Lashes and many hamsters, pet rats and fish, especially the fish named Coal.

May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her and continue to inspire acts of kindness and creativity in the world she so deeply touched. Remember Taryn’s words; “Do better” and ask yourself, “What would Jesus do?”
