Tanja's obituary
Tanja Louise Lindstrom King, 58, of Santa Paula, CA passed away on May 3rd, 2023 after a long battle with Colorectal Cancer. She passed away at Saint John’s Medical Center in Santa Monica with her husband, Greg, at her side. Tanja was like a beam of sunlight who had countless friends and loved ones. She was truly one of those people who touched everyone she met.
Tanja was born on October 17, 1964 to Robert Lindstrom and Beverly (Chafee) in Fort Smith Arkansas. She was a happy and joyful baby, and not long after her birth the family moved to Beaumont, Texas where she spent the remainder of her childhood, making friends she held dear all her life. After Tanja graduated from Forest Park High School in 1982, she went on to study Radio, Television and Film at North Texas State University.
After graduating, Tanja’s first major job was working for John Bloom as his assistant where she helped with his various book and television projects, most notably in his television show ”Joe Bob’s Drive-in Theater”, TCM’s highest rated show. The show moved production from Texas to Los Angeles in 1996, so Tanja packed up her bags and moved to L.A. In 1997 Tanja started her career at Warner Bros. Pictures as Assistant to the VP of Feature Post Production. She ultimately rose to the position of Director of Feature Post Production working with top movie directors like Clint Eastwood and Martin Scorsese. In this role, she met future husband, Greg, and in 2007 retired to have her daughter, Penelope, and take on motherhood as her new career. Tanja loved being a mother. Her daughter, Penelope, was her pride and joy, and she adored her stepdaughters Grier and Macki.
Tanja’s favorite activity was to be around people. In her 20’s and 30’s, she was actively involved in community theater and church fellowship groups. Later these would be replaced by all things motherhood. Tanja loved participating in Penelope’s activities such as stroller strides, dance and, of course, many years of gymnastics where this past March, Tanja was able to enjoy Penelope;s 8th place overall finish in the California State Gymnastic Championships. Tanja loved her cats and cherished her time at her 2nd home in Lake Nacimiento where she enjoyed boating and scooting around on the Sea Doo.
Tanja was predeceased by her Mom and Dad. Tanja is survived by her husband Gregory King, daughters Penelope, Macki and Grier King and her siblings Kurt Lindstrom, Marla Benroth and Troy Lindstrom.
Services will be held at Hollywood Presbyterian Church on June 3rd, 2023 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to www.bagsandgrace.com, an organization Tanja dear to her.
