Tammy's obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Tammy Coats (Crouch) on September 19, 2023. Born on October 1, 1969, Tammy lived a fulfilling life, characterized by love, laughter, and a deep care for others. Tammy’s value for family, her love of life, and her bubbly personality made her a beacon of warmth and joy to everyone who knew her.
Originally from Buena Vista, VA, she moved to Nashville in 1981, Tammy graduated from Mt. Juliet High School in 1987. She brought two amazing children into this world, Amber Dutton and Corbin Middleton, in 1990 and 1992 respectively. These were some of her greatest accomplishments and the pride and joy of her life. Her legacy, a legacy of kindness, lives on through them.
Tammy is sadly predeceased by her beloved parents, Mary Sue Crouch and Larry Monroe Crouch. She leaves behind a loving circle of family including her children Amber and Corbin, her sisters Pam (Phillip) Clark, Alicia Porto, Robin Wilmer, and her Aunt/Mother Marie Porto. Tammy's presence will be painfully missed, though her memory will continue to inspire and comfort those she left behind.
Known for her zest for life, Tammy enjoyed activities including going to the lake, laying in the hammock, traveling, thrifting, and shopping. She was a great lover of Mexican food, Coke, and Diet Dr. Pepper. Her favourite games included Scrabble, Yahtzee, Monopoly and Uno - always ensuring a fun-filled family game night.
Your music tastes might reveal something about your personality, and Tammy’s favorite artists like Michael Jackson, Bee Gees, Linda Ronstadt, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, ZZ Top, Kirk Franklin and Bluegrass music hinted at her outgoing and fun loving personality. Tammy took comfort in the Bible. She also loved arts, particularly the works of Thomas Kincade.
Tammy was dedicated to causes close to her heart; animals and homeless outreach. These were not just causes she cared about, but they defined her as a loving and kind person. As a testament to her personality, black was her favorite color, perhaps portraying her as strong, yet sophisticated.

Remember Tammy not with sadness, but with the joy and laughter she brought into our lives. Remember her lessons of patience, forgiveness, caring for the less fortunate, and not taking life too seriously. As we mourn her passing, let's continue to honor her legacy of kindness. Rest peacefully, Mom. You will forever remain in our hearts.
