Tamia's obituary
Tamia Ane Costello, born on January 9, 2002, in Chicago, Illinois, to Lamar and Marisha Costello, was a vibrant soul who touched the lives of everyone around her. The fourth of six children, Tamia was the heart of her family, the beloved middle child who connected her siblings with her warmth and care.
From a young age, Tamia exhibited a passion for cooking and baking. At just 7 years old, she would watch Food Network shows with the same enthusiasm most kids reserve for cartoons. Recognizing her budding talent, her parents enrolled her in children’s cooking classes, which sparked a lifelong love for the culinary arts. By 14, Tamia had already launched her own business, Mama Mia’s Cookies in a Jar, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit and love for creating delicious treats.
Tamia's educational journey took her through Michelle Obama Elementary School and Rich East High School in Park Forest, IL. Demonstrating her resilience and dedication, she completed her high school studies through homeschooling at American School in Lansing, IL, in 2020. Tamia was not only academically inclined but also deeply spiritual. In May 2016, she embraced her faith wholeheartedly, accepting Christ and being baptized at Victory Apostolic Church in Matteson, IL.
Known for her intelligence, creativity, and strong-willed nature, Tamia always marched to the beat of her own drum. Her talent extended beyond the kitchen; she loved doing hair and turned her skills into a source of income, styling hair for friends and family. She was eagerly planning to attend cosmetology school to further hone her craft. In 2021, she achieved another milestone by becoming a certified phlebotomist, a testament to her versatility and determination.
Tamia's love for life was evident in her joyous spirit. She loved dancing and being silly, bringing laughter and happiness to those around her. Her infectious energy and radiant smile could light up any room. She had a unique gift for making everyone feel special, often calling just to check in with a heartfelt, “I’m just calling, checking up on you.”
Family was everything to Tamia. She was fiercely protective of her siblings, always looking out for them with unwavering loyalty and love. Her bond with her family was unbreakable, and her presence was a source of comfort and strength for them.
Tamia is survived by her Loving Parents: Lamar Sr & Marisha; her protective siblings: Teriana, Tariah, Lamar Jr., Tamariya, and Laron; her cherished niece Kaniylah and nephew Lamar III; her grandmothers Susie McClendon and Marie Costello-Barlow; her grandfather Henry Wilson (Cora); her godmother Alicia Robinson (Tracey); and a host of aunts, great aunts, uncles, great uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her Great Grandmother Josephine Wilson, Aunt Leshunda Coleman, and her favorite cousin Tyrek Coleman.
