Tameka's obituary
Tameka Brown of Fort Mill, SC passed away from this physical plane, peacefully in her sleep- the morning of November 21, 2023. She was born to Ronald and Rosalyn Brown on June 25, 1970 in Atlantic City, NJ. Upon graduation from Overbrook Regional Senior High School (class of 1988), Tameka attended Bakersfield College in California. She later transferred to San Jose State University and where she majored in Clinical Psychology.
Tameka would soon find her church home, at Fremont Fellowship Church. She was an active member and served as: a Sunday School teacher, counselor, praise dancer, and more.
In 2013, Tameka enrolled in seminary school at The Master’s University, where she received her B.A. in Christian Ministries. Through her studies, and after, Tameka continued to dig deeper into her spirituality, which truly brought her peace and a personal sense of self.
After some time spent working in corporate America, Tameka stepped away from the hustle and bustle. And in 2018, she relocated to Atlanta, GA, to be closer to her niece Joyelle - who was the center of her world.
Once settled and adjusted to Atlanta, Tameka made freedom her priority. She worked from home, which allowed her to live life on her terms. She was fortunate enough to take frequent trips with loved ones during this period. Spending more time in nature, she often took walks, went bike riding, earth grounding, or simply cooking at home, which fed her soul and brought her joy.
Tameka was a good friend to many, always hyping up her loved ones. She had a big heart, full of compassion and support.Tameka was a great listening ear for so many and her humor was only outshined by her laughter.
May we cherish the countless memories and her unforgettable smile. She will forever live in our hearts. We trust that the ancestors welcomed her with open arms to the after.
Tameka is preceded in death by her parents, Ronald Brown and Rosalyn Cathie; grandparents, Maurice and Rowena Cathie; and her beloved Aunt Barbara Woodo.
She is survived by her younger sister, Sekinah Brown of Atlanta, GA; niece, Joyelle Coach of Atlanta, GA; aunt, Rene Mason of Hemet, CA and a host of cousins and extended family.
