Taj Royani Nejad, born October 6, 1926, died peacefully at her daughter’s home on July 23, 2020 at the age of 93. Mrs. Royani Nejad was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose warm, quiet smile reassured and comforted all who knew her. At sixteen years old, she married a man who loved and respected her above all else and with whom she had six children. She reciprocated that love and devotion to the utmost of her capabilities when she cared for him for two years at their home while he battled with Alzheimer’s disease until his premature death at age 70. Maman Taj, as the family lovingly calls her, was a role model and pillar of strength for the entire family. She demonstrated that strength by living through the insurmountable grief of burying three of her children and never neglecting the living. She gave and received the most important and only enduring of riches, unconditional love. She had another way to warm our hearts; she was a culinary genius, making the most delicious Persian dishes for family and friends with the greatest finesse. She endured her pain with patience and never lost faith in her Islamic beliefs and values. She is survived by her two daughters, Simin and Haleh, who reside in Fairfax, VA; her son Bahman who resides in Iran; and seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren, both in the U.S. and Iran.
