Sylvia's obituary

In loving memory of Sylvia Inez Suitt

March 18, 1943 – September 1, 2025

With deep love, we celebrate the life of Sylvia Inez Suitt, a devoted mother, grandmother, educator, counselor, and woman of unwavering faith.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Buffalo, New York, Sylvia was the eldest of three children of E. Vincent and Sarah Bernice Truitt Suitt. She graduated from Spelman College and earned a master’s in education from Atlanta University, dedicating her life to helping others through education and counseling.

Her professional journey included roles in the East Orange School System, Rutgers University, and a long career at The Coca-Cola Company, where she retired as Training Resources Manager in 1998. A lifelong servant leader, Sylvia was deeply active in her church communities, serving as an Elder and a Finance Team member at Church of the Master Presbyterian Church, and chairing the SBP Outreach Ministry at Cascade UMC for 14 years.  In the most recent years, she was a devout member of the Hoosier United Methodist Church where she was committed to the work of the church in the community.

Sylvia’s greatest joy was her family. She is lovingly remembered by her son Cedric Michael, daughter-in-law Danielle, and her five cherished granddaughters: Nia Michelle, Imani Annette, Asha Inez, Zuri Bonita, and Aisha Deidre. She is also survived by her devoted sisters, Sarah Bonita Suitt and Sharon B. Suitt (Vincent, Jr.), along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Sylvia lived a life grounded in love, purpose, and faith in Jesus Christ. Her legacy of service, strength, and grace lives on in all who were blessed to know her.

“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
