With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sylvia Wallace Mitchell on February 21, 2026, at the age of 89. Sylvia was born during quite the happening, coming into this world during The Great Flood of 1937 in Paducah, Kentucky. Her 89 years on this earth were filled with kindness, adventure, compassion, and commitment to others.

Sylvia touched the lives of everyone who had the honor and privilege of knowing her. Whether it was through her photography or her infectious laugh and smile, she leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and compassion.

Sylvia is survived by her two children, Janet Burnett (husband Darrell Burnett) and Brian Hulen (wife Crystal Galyon); her seven grandchildren, Dustin Burnett (wife Miranda Burnett), Dillon Burnett (wife Laura Burnett), Reid Schwent-Burnett (wife Nikki Schwent-Burnett), Garrett Hulen, Blake Hulen, Sophie Hulen, Alex Hulen; and her five great-grandchildren Cohen, Drake, Elliott, Wallace, and Sloan. She is preceded in death by half-sister Lynda Boudreaux and her parents.
